Job Description: Service Engineer (Controls & Automation) Position Title: Job Description: Service Engineer (Controls & Automation) Department: Field Service & Commissioning Location: [Insert Location - e.g., Pune / Delhi NCR] Reports To: Service Head / Operations Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Industry Sector: Industrial Automation Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled, versatile, and hands-on Service Engineer (Controls & Automation) to spearhead the on-site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our automated machinery. The ideal candidate must possess a hybrid technical command, demonstrating equal proficiency in electrical control systems and mechanical assemblies. Key Responsibilities • On-Site Installation & Commissioning: Lead the complete deployment lifecycle of industrial automation equipment and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) at customer plant sites. • Controls & Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose, debug, and modify PLC programs, configure HMI screens, and tune Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) live on-site. • Mechanical Alignment & Servicing: Inspect, align, and troubleshoot mechanical systems, including pneumatic actuators, hydraulic lines, servo motors, indexing mechanisms, and precision jigs/fixtures. • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): Work closely with the client’s engineering team to complete testing protocols and secure official sign-offs for project closure. Required Qualifications & Experience • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering. • Experience: 2 to 5 years of active field experience in installing, commissioning, or servicing automated machinery, factory lines, or SPMs. • Technical Breadth: Proven history of handling a combination of electrical control panels and mechanical hardware setups on a live shop floor. Technical & Behavioral Competencies • Automation Frameworks: Practical familiarity with industrial networking protocols (Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP) and sensor networks. • Problem-Solving Under Pressure: Ability to methodically isolate root causes of machinery breakdowns in high-stress manufacturing environments. • High Mobility: Must be highly flexible and willing to travel extensively (up to 70–80%) to various regional and national manufacturing clusters.
