Job Description: Project Manager – Industrial Automation & Machine Building Focus on Multi-Project Delivery, Vendor Outsourcing, and Precision Assemblies Location: [PUNE / TALAWADE] Department: Project Management & Operations Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Head of Projects / Director of Operations Position Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamically driven Project Manager to spearhead the execution of multiple concurrent Industrial Automation projects. In this pivotal role, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for project lifecycles—from initial design alignment through fabrication, vendor coordination, assembly, and final site commissioning. The ideal candidate must come from a solid Mechanical Engineering background with extensive supervisory experience in custom machine building, special purpose machines (SPMs), automation lines, and advanced jigs & fixtures assemblies. A significant component of this role involves strategic vendor outsourcing, supplier quality management, and contract negotiation to ensure projects are delivered precisely on time, within budget, and to customer specifications. Key Responsibilities • Multi-Project Execution: Lead, plan, and monitor multiple industrial automation and custom machine-building projects simultaneously from concept approval to final acceptance tests (FAT/SAT). • Vendor Outsourcing & Strategic Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-quality manufacturing vendors for machining, fabrication, structural components, and raw materials. Manage vendor SLAs, negotiate pricing, and audit progress to minimize lead times. • Manufacturing & Design Oversight: Supervise assembly processes for custom machines, handling mechanical integration, engineering modifications, and complex jigs & fixtures setups. • Resource & Team Supervision: Directly supervise an internal team of mechanical technicians, fitters, assembly engineers, and floor staff, fostering safety, precision engineering benchmarks, and optimal productivity. • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the central point of contact between Design Engineering, Electrical/Controls Teams, Procurement, Quality Control, and external clients to align project milestones. • Budget, Timeline & Risk Tracking: Maintain detailed project Gantt charts, manage cost variations, optimize resource utilization, and implement proactive mitigation plans for technical or supply-chain bottlenecks. Required Qualifications & Experience • Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering. Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, Prince2) is a strong advantage. • Experience: 6 to 10 years of robust experience in Project Management within the industrial automation, SPM manufacturing, or precision machine-building sectors. • Supervisory Track Record: Minimum 3 years of experience directly supervising engineering floors, mechanical assembly, shop-floor technicians, or machine fabrication lines. • Assembly Expertise: Proven hands-on and supervisory familiarity with Jigs & Fixtures assemblies, pneumatic/hydraulic integrations, structural fabrication, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards. Technical & Operational Competencies • Vendor Ecosystem Network: Strong knowledge of outsourcing methodologies, machining processes (CNC/VMC operations), fabrication finishing standards, and vendor cost structures. • Mechanical Blueprint Literacy: Expert ability to read and critique engineering drawings, assembly documents, and 3D CAD designs (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.). • Leadership & Communication: Commanding leadership traits with an ability to manage demanding floor workers, resolve supplier conflicts, and confidently present project updates to corporate stakeholders. • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience using Microsoft Project (MS Project), Primavera, Jira, or equivalent PPM toolsets alongside standard enterprise ERP solutions.
